The ‘Wobbly Wallaby’ – Clocktower Residency

26th February – 10th March

The Clocktower Centre, Moonee Ponds

Big news! For 2 whole weeks I was lucky enough to be the artist in residence at the Clocktower Centre to develop a new children’s theatre show. ‘The Wobbly Wallaby & The Absolute Bandicoot’, based on a book I found by Prema Nishan while it was still a crowdfunding campaign on Facebook, is a story that celebrates neurodiversity, told through the medium of music, movement and puppetry. For 2 very hectic but very exciting weeks, we recorded the songs, had the puppet hand-made and fashioned a set out of household items to create a beautiful visual and musical experience to present to the public at the end of the residency. I had such a ball, and the families who came absolutely loved it! I am so excited to continue to develop this project and share updates with you all! Thank you of course to the amazing Damian Peck (Damo Music For Kids) who provided the perfect musical ambience to the story. My puppet maker Jackson Eather is incredibly talented and captured Wobbly’s character perfectly. Eep! So exciting!! Watch this space!!

“Hi Jemma, we saw your Wobbly Wallaby show 2 weeks ago with our 3.5 years old twins. They loved it and I thought your show was absolutely wonderful! I loved the intimate setting, the beautiful music and story telling, and the gorgeous set with your amazing attention for details. Congratulations on creating such an engaging experience and promoting the important values in Prema’s book” – Mandy
